Top 7 Reasons Why People Don't Comment On Your Blog Posts And How To Fix Them

Ever wondered why you had published thousands of blog posts but you get only a few or no comment on all the posts? It is because you have not actually known the reasons why people don't comment on your blog posts.

It is when a problem's foundation is known that it would be easier to tackle. Probably, when you know these reasons, you could work on them, and your readers would start leaving comments on your blog posts.

Reasons why people don't comment on your blog posts

Reasons why no one comments on your blog posts

#1. You don't post great contents.

Dhur! It looks like I'm rude? I'm not. That is exactly what you lack - great content that leaves readers no option than to leave a comment.

I come across your post in the quest to get my problem solved, but unfortunately, your post cannot solve my problem. How on earth can I be inspired to leave a comment?

Or let's say I've severally read many topics that you're also discussing, and now it doesn't sound great to me anymore. Or yours looks great too, but I'm thinking if I should leave the same comment I had left on the other 10 blogs I read about the same posts or not. This is another reason why you should post original and compelling content.

Solution: Try every possible best to make sure your posts are genuine. Make an intensive research on your post title before you begin to write.

#2. Your comment box is not easy to use.

I intentionally asked one of my readers to comment on a particular post; she returned back to me telling that her comment was not going through. I was surprised and confused, so I asked her the type of device she was using. She said it was a java mobile phone.

To cut the long story short, this same shit happens to many of your blog readers. They want to comment on your posts, but your comment box is not easy to use.

Solution: Do an intensive survey on all devices to know whether readers can comment easily. When you get this fact, you should know what next to do.

#3. You don't tell your readers you love comments.

tell your readers that you love comment

Sounds funny, right? Must you tell your readers you love comments before they could give you kudos on a nice article? Yes, you should tell them. Believe me, many readers love what you posted and would have liked to leave a comment, but THEY FORGOT. They forgot because you did not remind them. Did you?

Many blog readers were actually doing something before they bump into your blog (or come to your blog directly or through search engines). So when they get their problem solved, they tend to leave that page without leaving a comment regardless of how helpful what they read was.

Solution:
It isn't a bad idea if you tell your readers to share their experiences at the end of the post. Use “comment-call-to-action” words. Ask questions that require answers from different perspectives. Tell your readers you want to know their thoughts about the post. All these could make a reader write a comment on your post.

#4. You put up a fence in your comment box.

register before you can comment

I don't know the last time I wanted to comment on a post I enjoyed; the whole thing was requesting me to log in. For what? Why must I become a member because I only want to comment? Some blogs require you enter verification or captcha code before you are able to comment. This can also make your readers change mind.

Because I want to make a comment on 3 different posts, I now need to enter verification code 3 times. Haba, it's annoying!

Solution: If your blog allows anonymous to comment on a post, let your readers know that they can sign in as anonymous if they want to boycott verification.

#5. You don't reply to previous comments.

Let's assume I read your blog post which I really enjoyed, and I have a question about the post. But you were nowhere to be found on other people's comments. You did not reply their comments (even if they were not asking questions). Trust me; I won't bother to ask the question anymore.

Solution: Reply to people's comment, even if it is unnecessary. Anything that makes the comments to be approved and be seen on the page, you need to reply even if it's just a "thank you" word.

You need to take a look at this blog post. Despite that the comment was too much, the author managed to reply the last person as at the time of publishing this post.

#6. Readers’ comments need to go through moderation.

For top blogs, I think it's ideal to moderate comments. This is because some newbie bloggers use this opportunity to spam the post comments with their blog links(as a way of getting traffic, which is not right).

But a couple of blogs out there don't set comment moderation, yet don't receive comments. These are the kinds of blogs that might likely get no comment at all, especially when they set comment moderation.

If I drop a comment on one of your posts for the first time, and it tells me my comment is waiting for approval. The second time, the same thing. Forget about the third time; it won't happen. I will not try to comment again on your blog posts.

Solution:
Turn off your comment moderation first, and see whether it's ONLY SPAM comments you will receive.

#7. You mistakenly don't enable comments on your posts.

This is unintentional. It happens because you don't know. You had mistakenly turned off comments for your posts, probably when you were just playing around your blog dashboard.

It has happened to me before - the comment box suddenly disappeared, and readers couldn't find a place to write their comments. It took me time before I eventually figured out that I mistakenly turned off the comment for my posts.

Solution: Check where readers' comment turn on/off is located and change the settings. For Blogger blogs, find it on the "Option" tab on your posts page, in your dashboard.

Conclusion:
Many other reasons can make you not to get comments on your blog posts; such as the reader’s discretion, and lots more. Whichever case it may be, try and figure out what it is and get it fixed immediately.
