How To Hide Your IP Address With Zenmate Extension On Chrome Google Broswer

What is an IP address?

An IP address is a unique string

of numbers separated by full stops that identify each computer using the internet. A typical example of an IP address is “123.45.67.890”.

The IP address is automatically assigned to a computer by the local network device or your internet service provider (ISP). For example, the images below show my IP address as I use the same ISP, which is Airtel (in Nigeria), to browse the internet on my two devices. One is my PC win 10 and the other, my Tablet android device. Every of my details is displayed publicly, as they are shown in the images. But the technology has made it possible to hide or change your IP address through the VPN.

What is VPN?

VPN simply means Virtual Private Network. It is a method used to add security and privacy to private and public networks, like Wifi hotspot. A VPN software allows you to change or hide your IP address. VPN Softwares are either free of paid (for premium usage). I will be teaching you how to install a free VPN later on this post. Do you need to hide your IP address?

Perhaps you don’t know if it is necessary to hide your IP address, here are few reasons why you should hide it for some reasons.

Why do I need to hide my IP address?

•  It makes you browse the internet with no trace of identity.

• It makes you an anonymous user. You can connect to the desired country server to enjoy streaming as if you never left home.

• Hiding your real IP address gives you a great layer of protection online because you disguise your real location.

• Using a VPN service allows you to hide your IP from unprotected networks, like hotspot, where hackers could be lurking. Because hotspots are unsecured and open to everyone.

• Using different IP address can let you have access to content that is not available to your location.It allows you to hide your activities from your internet service providers.

• You can get any country flags for your account on any platform when you change your IP address. Shout out to the Fiverr gurus

With the few reasons above, you may like to hide your IP address right now.

Here’s how:

Step 1 >>> on your chrome browser, go to www.google.com

Step 2 >>> search for this keyword – “Zenmate for chrome”. Then Click on the first result

Step 3 >>> you will be taken to a page where you can add the extension. Click on “add to chrome” as it is seen in the image below

Click On "ADD TO CHROME"

Step 4 >>> after you have successfully added the extension, click on the extension at the right corner side of your chrome browser page.

Step 5 >>> A new tab will open. Enter your email and your password correctly.

Voom, you are good to go. To switch on the protection anytime you can do so by clicking on the zenmate symbol at the top right of the browser page. Find the button below the small window.

However, you may like to change the location as the default location is set to "Germany". Simply click on the "change location" button.

After you successfully change your location, you can view your new IP address via the same address as above - whoer.net. Then, you find your IP successfully changed.
